Whether it’s game day, taco Tuesday, or just an excuse to snack, my mom’s taco dip vanishes faster than you can say “pass the chips!”

I’m spilling the (refried) beans and sharing our family favorite, so you can bring some serious flavor to your next party.

Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 lb. of ground hamburger, browned & cooled
  • 1 small/medium onion, chopped
  • 1 small head of lettuce, shredded
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 bottle of taco sauce
  • 2 can refried beans
  • 1 bag (80z)of shredded cheddar cheese (or a Mexican blend)
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  1. Make the base
    In a skillet, after browning the meat, add the onion, taco seasoning & sauce. Let it cool.
  2. Layer it up
    Layer a dish with refried beans, sour cream and then add the burger mixture. Sprinkle shredded lettuce, cheese over the base, followed by the tomatoes, olives (if using), and green onions.
  3. Chill & serve
    Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld. Serve with tortilla chips and watch it disappear!

Tips & Variations

  • Add heat: Sprinkle chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Lighter option: Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Ground Hamburger
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 2 cups lettuce shredded
  • 3 tomatoes Roma, Chopped
  • 1 pkg. of taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup taco sauce
  • 2 cans refried beans
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 bag shredded cheese 8 oz

Method
 

  1. In a skillet, brown the hamburger. Add the onions, taco seasoning & taco sauce. Let it cool.
  2. Meanwhile, spread the refried beans onto your pan or dish of choice, add sour cream, and then top with the cooled burger. Add lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and green onions/olives if using.
  3. Refrigerate for 30 mins and serve.

Notes

Olives & Green Onions optional.
